We tested 14 shampoos designed for gray hair, including both drugstore and salon brands. We evaluated each shampoo on how well it cleaned, how well it left hair feeling, and how gentle it was on the scalp. We also looked at how well each shampoo preserved hair color and how well it controlled frizz.
Based on our findings, we think the best shampoo for gray hair is the L’Oreal Paris EverPure Silver Shampoo. This shampoo did an excellent job of cleaning hair and left it feeling soft and manageable. It also did a great job of preserving hair color and controlling frizz.
If you’re looking for a more affordable option, we think the Pantene Pro-V Silver Expressions Shampoo is a good choice. This shampoo also did a great job of cleaning hair and left it feeling soft and manageable. It wasn’t quite as good as the L’Oreal Paris shampoo at preserving hair color, but it did a decent job.
No matter which shampoo you choose, be sure to follow up with a conditioner designed for gray hair. We like the L’Oreal Paris EverPure Silver Conditioner, which did a great job of moisturizing and detangling hair.
